On Monday, March 3rd, from 22:00 to 23:00 (Athens time) (with a repeat broadcast on Tuesday, March 4th, from 04:00 to 05:00), “Our Town” welcomes renowned jazz composer and pianist Dimitris Kalantzis.
The artist discusses his extensive studies in Greece and New York, his role as a director in jazz schools and music high schools, his collaborations with musicians from the Greek and international jazz scene and the major concerts he has performed in prestigious venues and intimate jazz clubs.
Kalantzis talks about his jazz adaptations of works by Manos Hadjidakis and Mikis Theodorakis, which received high praise from audiences. He also shares insights on the pioneers of jazz in Greece and the international jazz legends he admires.
Beyond jazz, he discusses his interest in musicals, as well as his collaborations with Dionysis Savvopoulos, Loukianos Kilaidonis, Notis Mavroudis, and others. He also reflects on his time as a founding member of the band Fatme.
