“Our Town” presents Albert Camus’s “Summer” in a tribute to the great thinker and writer. The program features selected passages from his writings on what he calls the “invincible summer,” and on humanity, which “suffocates under dictatorships, bleeds from wars, and dies amid hatred.”
In the face of this reality, Camus offers his own perspective: “Despite fate and in defiance of the absurd, humanity is the only meaning in our world, because humans are the only creatures who demand that it have meaning.”
His writings reveal his ceaseless search for what he considers most essential in life: light and happiness.
