On Saturday, March 15, 2025, “Our Town” hosted Chloe Akritaki and Katerina Koskina.
On the occasion of Chloe Akritaki’s photography exhibition “Encounters”, curated by Katerina Koskina, an engaging discussion took place about the portraits she has captured, featuring significant personalities. Through her lens, Akritaki brings out unique aspects of these artists with imagination and passion, creatively utilizing the space of the Benaki Museum on Pireos Street.
A special tribute was made to Chloe’s father, the renowned visual artist Alexis Akritakis, a key representative of modernism in the visual arts. Chloe has extensively documented him in her photographs—inside his studio, at home, and in the places he frequented.
Akritaki also spoke about Berlin during a vibrant creative era, her distinguished studies, and her deeply personal connection to Prague, where she has lived and continues to create, capturing the city’s beauty, especially its blossoming cherry trees. The show revived the atmosphere of the legendary Fofi’s bar in Berlin, founded by Chloe’s mother, Fofi Akritaki. The bar became a lively meeting point for figures from the worlds of art, politics, and social life.
Curator Katerina Koskina, an art historian, museologist, and curator of numerous significant exhibitions, discussed the process of organizing an exhibition and how this particular one contributes to the evolution of visual narratives.
The program featured music by Kurt Vile, Liza Minnelli, and Chloe Akritaki’s son, Alexis Geitmann.
