“Our Town” presents Michalis Andronikou as part of its special series dedicated to Cypriot artists.
The multi-talented musician, composer, and academic speaks about his diverse studies in composition — writing for ensembles, solo instruments, theatre, film, and song. He reflects on the teachers who shaped him, the soloists he collaborates with to forge new musical paths, the unique spaces where his work is performed, and the sounds that have influenced him deeply — lullabies, laments, Byzantine hymns, and more.
The Cypriot discusses his works “From the Land, the Water, and the Air” and “The Spelling of Love”, as well as others not yet released.
He also shares thoughts on his connection with the Greek diaspora, life in Canada, and his enduring longing for Cyprus, his homeland.
