Benakis, Sinas, Maraslis, Zarifis, Zographos, the Archigenis couple, the Satrapes couple: figures whose public image has been etched into collective memory through the often converging, sometimes diverging perspectives of those who studied their lives.
Inspired by the photo-album book “The Last Imprint” (Το Τελευταίο Ίχνος) by photographer Maria Stefosi, the program “Our Town” is dedicated to figures who – whether during their lifetime or after their death – offered significant benefactions to our homeland.
The program explores the many ways these benefactors have been remembered – by those who knew them, admired them, loved them, and especially by those who came to “know” them only after their death, through the writings and recollections of others.
Guests in the studio, Maria Stefosi and publisher Gerasimos Livadas, discuss the great benefactors who flourished in the centers of the Greek diaspora, supported the modern Greek state with generous endowments, and invested in their places of origin, leaving behind an indelible legacy of generosity.
