Take Your Time with Prokopis Angelopoulos | 27 Mar. 2026

On Friday, 27 March 2026, we spoke by phone with director Stavros Psyllakis on the occasion of the screening of his award-winning film “Sculpted Souls” (Smilimenes Psyches), taking place on Saturday, 28 March at 19:30 at the Greek Film Archive, as part of the Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival screenings. He also referred to Julien Grivel—the subject of the documentary, the philhellene dentist who treated Hansen’s disease patients at the Infectious Diseases Hospital of Agia Varvara—who has now been granted honorary Greek citizenship.

We then discussed the impact of the war on tourism, both for the Easter period and the upcoming summer season, with Lysandros Tsilidis, President of fedHATTA (Federation of Hellenic Associations of Travel and Tourist Agencies).

At the end of the first hour, we listened to the second part of our tribute to Cuba and the current situation following the energy blockade imposed by the United States, through an interview with Takis Politis, Professor at the University of Thessaly and visiting lecturer at UCLV in Santa Clara. He described the conditions he encountered upon arriving in October and how they have evolved since the beginning of the year. He spoke about Cuban society, the organization of the state—providing basic needs such as housing, education, healthcare and food despite increasing difficulties in food distribution—as well as the strong sense of solidarity among people and the distinct nature of the country’s educational system compared to higher education in Greece. Despite the challenges, he does not intend to leave Cuba before completing his academic collaboration.

At the beginning of the second hour, we spoke with Nikos Vasilakos, an internet mental health counselor, about the protection of minors from internet addiction. The discussion was prompted by the recent court ruling in favor of a 20-year-old who sued Meta and Google for addiction-related harm and was awarded compensation of nearly 6 million euros.

On the occasion of World Theatre Day, we connected with Brussels to speak with Voula Kagatsa, founder of the theatre group NOTA THEATRALE—one of eight amateur Greek theatre groups in the city—which are jointly staging performances on 27 and 28 March under the theme of intergenerational conflict.

In the final part of the program, we spoke with Greek composer, songwriter and performer Monika Kabasele, who lives and works in France, about her new crowdfunding campaign for her upcoming album, running online until 17 April.
