U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle spoke to ERT’s international radio service during the world’s leading maritime exhibition, held at the Metropolitan Expo.
Speaking with Antonis Karagiannakis, Ambassador Guilfoyle highlighted the pivotal role of Greek shipping in the global economy, noting that the Greek-owned fleet accounts for approximately 20% of the world’s commercial shipping capacity.
She described Posidonia 2026 as a major international gathering for the maritime industry, where stakeholders from around the world exchange ideas, build partnerships, and promote innovation, emphasizing the exhibition’s long-standing success and global significance.
Addressing the Greek audience, Ambassador Guilfoyle encouraged the Greek shipping community to further strengthen its cooperation with the United States. As she noted, President Donald Trump’s administration is working to revitalize the American maritime industry and views Greek shipping as one of its most important partners in this effort. She also expressed the United States’ commitment to continuing its active support for the further development of maritime ties between the two countries.
