The program “Take Your Time”, hosted by Prokopis Agelopoulos, welcomed internationally acclaimed Professor Mattheos Santamouris to the studio. Professor Santamouris, who joined the broadcast from Sydney, is a distinguished academic at the University of New South Wales.
The occasion was his recent appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia, one of the country’s highest honors, awarded by the Governor-General in recognition of his outstanding contribution to higher education and his internationally acclaimed research in high-performance architecture.
Professor Santamouris spoke about this distinction, environmental challenges, and the ways in which living conditions on our planet can be improved through sustainable design and innovation.
Born in Athens and with family roots in Tinos, Mattheos Santamouris is a Scientia Distinguished Professor and holds the Anita Lawrence Chair in High-Performance Architecture at UNSW Sydney. He is internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in sustainable buildings, urban climate, and energy-efficient architecture.
He has also been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Cyprus and has received numerous international distinctions, including the PLEA Lifetime Achievement Award and the Australian Sustainability Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his pioneering contributions to sustainable architecture and the built environment.
