Director Penelope Flouri and actress Anastasia Katsinavaki joined Prokopis Agelopoulos in the studio of the Voice of Greece program “Take Your Time” to discuss their participation in the theatre production On Blindness | Fragments.
Inspired by Blindness, the emblematic novel by Nobel Prize-winning author José Saramago, the production premiered on 30 April 2026 at H.ug Artspace and will be presented for a limited run of 15 performances.
The stage adaptation brings together five performers within an immersive theatrical environment. Moving away from linear narration and drawing on the fragmented logic of a nightmare, the performance reveals moments of social collapse alongside the human capacity for reinvention and resilience. Five voices and five bodies function as a collective chorus, struggling to rediscover humanity through conditions of extreme deprivation.
Blending soundscapes with video projections, the production highlights the shifting dimensions of time and space within the narrative. Blindness is approached not merely as loss, but as transformation — a passage into another mode of perception that reconnects people with the body, with vulnerability, and with one another.
