Antonis Klapsis discusses the fall of Tripolitsa on “Our Global Voice” | 23 Sept. 2026

Antonis Klapsis, associate professor of Modern History and International Politics at the University of the Peloponnese, spoke with Dimitris Kontogiannis on Voice of Greece’s “Our Global Voice.” He discussed the significance of the fall of Tripolitsa on September 23, 1821, for the Greek War of Independence, the negative impression the violence left on the philhellenic movement in Europe, and what he described as modern Turkey’s attempt to use those events as a counterweight to genocides committed in the 20th century.
