Konstantinos Voukelatos, president of the Greek community in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, spoke about the community’s Greek school, which has approximately 400 students, and its Greek-language institute, attended by more than 100 adults, on the occasion of the new school year. He also discussed organized trips to Greece for students and older members of the community, as well as how the Greek diaspora is experiencing Argentina’s economic and political situation. He spoke on Voice of Greece’s program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Voukelatos expressed his appreciation to the Greek authorities for sending eight teachers to the community’s school, while also requesting that more books, particularly for younger children, be sent from Greece. He also emphasized how proud the community was that the school had received an award from the Greek Ministry of Education for the best video produced by a diaspora school, showcasing its facilities and student life. He also spoke about several graduates’ decision to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Greece.
