New Year’s Eve with the Filippidis family in traditional tunes and songs | 31 Dec. 2024, 10:00

On Tuesday, December 31st, New Year’s Eve, we bid farewell to 2024 in a traditional way by welcoming into the studio of Voice of Greece and the show “Take Your Time” the renowned clarinet virtuoso Nikos Filippidis, the exceptional folk song interpreter Lefkothea Filippidi, Kostas Filippidis with his lute, and Kostas Meretakis on percussion.

Nikos Filippidis, born in 1944 in Kerasovo near Konitsa in Epirus, hails from a musical family. His father was also a well-known clarinetist of his time. Nikos was a close collaborator of Domna Samiou from 1989 until her passing, participating in numerous concerts and recordings. He is also a maker of traditional musical instruments.

His daughter, Lefkothea-Maria Filippidi, inherited his talent and love for traditional Greek music and is a distinguished interpreter of folk songs. Following the family’s musical footsteps, his brother, Kostas Filippidis, a renowned player of the traditional lute, has been a close collaborator for years.

Together, the three of them, along with Kostas Meretakis on percussion, will keep us company with beloved traditional songs and send wishes of Happiness, Love, Health, and Peace to Greeks abroad in every corner of the world.

Produced and presented by Prokopis Agelopoulos
