The singer-songwriter, performer, and poet Lida Chalkiadaki was a guest at the studio of Voice of Greece. She is an artist with a significant presence in the music scene during the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. We talked about her relationship with music, which started with the influence of her mother, the unforgettable Danae Stratigopoulou, her explorations of musical genres and sounds from past decades, the voices she loved and that inspired her, as well as her important collaborations with major names in the music scene at the time, such as Vangelis Papathanassiou, Vangelis Germanos, Despoina Glezou, Yannis Markopoulos, Nikos Mamangakis, Mimis Plessas, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Nikos Xylouris, Mariza Koch, Domna Samiou, Kostas Tournas, Thanasis Gaifylias, Argyris Kounadis, Dimitris Psarianos, and many others. We also discussed the legendary music venues of the time, such as Kyttaro, Rodeo, and Elatirio, and the iconic collaboration with her partner in music and life, Spyros Vlaxopoulos, which resulted in the significant LP Ilektrikos Apostperitis. Songs from this LP, such as “Otan Tha Genithei O Yios Sou”, “I Michanes Mou” and “Ela Na Dis Ton Topo Mou” became beloved and frequently sung. We talked about today’s music scene and the projects she is preparing, as she remains active and creative, revealing an ongoing recording for her upcoming album To Zeibekiko Tis Alphavitas. She also shared about a crucial development in her life—the birth and raising of her three children, something she said she felt she deeply needed.
