Andriy Savenko on ”The Voice That Unites Us”

Ukrainian Hellenist Andriy Savenko, Director and Professor of Hellenic Studies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, joined Gianna Triantafylli on the Voice of Greece.

Mr. Andriy Savenko is master (besides holding several degrees, scholarships, distinctions, edited publications of Modern Greek literature, etc.) of “Classical and Modern Greek Philology”.
This is the most important Greek academic pillar of Ukraine in supporting and disseminating Greek philosophy, linguistics, classical Modern Greek studies, and culture.

Professor Andriy Savenko described the situation after the beginning of the war, life in Kiev and the struggle of Ukrainians’ day-to-day life. Among other important subjects, he spoke to us about the Hellenism of Azov, about the devastated and martyred Mariupol.

The show was also joinied by Professor and Head of Greek Studies in Lviv, Tasos Zorbas. Mr. Zorbas, an immigrant with his family in Greece, talked about the Greek migrants of the Azov Sea but also of those who have stayed there, despite of the implications, in the Azov villages, Mariupol and Odessa.

Nostalgia and the hope of returning as well as the end of the War were the main themes of his discussion.
