The talented mezzo-soprano and actress, Cleopatra Eleftheriadou, who plays Maria Callas at a young age in the new biographical ten-episode series of ERT, “Maria:The Unknown Callas,” was hosted in the studio by the show “Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos.
The 20-year-old leading actress, Cleopatra Eleftheriadou, is a lyrical singer. She was born in Athens and graduated from the Music School of Alimos and the children’s choir of the National Opera. She began solfège lessons at the age of fourteen and is a student of soprano Maria Katrivesi. From 2011 to 2022, she participated as a member of the children’s choir of the National Conservatory of Athens, under the direction of Elpida Paolino, and later in the adult choir under the direction of Spyros Klapsis. Since 2022, she has been studying acting and musical theatre at the Veaiki Higher School and the Theatre of Changes. In 2022, she was invited to sing at the British Embassy during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II, and the same year, she starred in the modern operetta “The Magic Violin” by Nikos Xanthoulis at the Athens Concert Hall. In 2015, she was accepted into the children’s choir of the National Opera under the direction of soprano Mata Katsouli. Notably, during her time at the National Opera, she performed to honor US President Barack Obama in 2016 at the Presidential Palace. In August 2023, she participated in the opera night “August Full Moon” at the Ancient Theater of Zea, alongside tenor Dimitris Paksoglou and soprano Maria Katrivesi. In September 2023, she attended the first Voice Camp in Greece, which took place in Amaliada, where distinguished professionals taught. Her participation in the lead role of the ERT television series came as a natural consequence of all her achievements, and the young actress demonstrates that she has all the qualities to succeed both in Greece and abroad.
