The event is scheduled to place on Sunday, May 15th, and in it, Aristarchos Papadaniil is to perform together with Aris Zervas, on the cello, the four songs from the iconic cantata Mauthausen by Mikis Theodorakis, with lyrics by Iakovos Kampanellis.
It should be noted that the recording of the new approach (voice-violoncello) of the cantata of MAUTHAUSEN was to be the last one to be released -on 29 July 2021, on the day of Mikis Theodorakis’ birthday- with the world-famous Greek composer’s permission, just one month before his death on September 2nd, 2021. The release of the songs of the cantata MAUTHAUSEN was accompanied by the short film “MAUTHAUSEN: When the War is Over”, directed by Panagiotis Kountouras and Aristarchos Papadaniil. The film is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, USA, on Friday, May 13, 2022.
Lastly, Aristarchos Papadaniil pointed out that on the premises of the former Nazi camp in Mauthausen, the shooting of a poetic documentary film based on an unpublished manuscript text by Iakovos Kampanellis will begin, titled “Travelogue Mauthausen, May 1988 – Unpublished Script for TV Filming”.
