Antonis Chaldeos, historian and author, spoke on “Our Global Voice” on the radio of the Voice of Greece with Dimitris Kontogiannis about the history of the Greek presence in the Arabian Peninsula from the time of Alexander the Great and mainly from the middle of the 19th century to the present day.
Mr. Chaldeos, who hails from Plomari, Lesvos, started researching his family’s history and found that some of its members had immigrated to different countries since the mid-19th century. This gave him the impetus to study the history of the Greeks in the African Continent and to write 11 books on this subject to date. The author referred to the various waves of Greek immigration to the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, such as Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Swedish Arabia and Yemen over the centuries and especially in recent decades.
