Stephanie Pazoles talks about her adoption on ”Our Global Voice” | 25.01.2024

Stephanie Pazoles, who was adopted in the 1950s at the age of 13 months by Greek-American parents living in the U.S. state of Utah, spoke about the story of her adoption on the show “Our Global Voice” with Petros Diplas and Dimitris Kontogiannis.

Ms. Pazoles was 15 days old when she was found in a basket outside a church in Patras with a piece of paper stating that she had been baptized Pinelopi and her baptism cross; she was taken to the city orphanage from where she was adopted without ever knowing her biological parents’ name. She says she understands why some mothers are sometimes forced to give up their children for adoption, as she experienced it in her 20s with her son Christopher in the US. Ms. Pazoles, who has two more children, Nikos and Alexandra, is searching for her family in Greece through DNA tests and has found that she has distant relatives in Canada originally from Aigio. By coincidence, the song “Aegiotissa” was the one she always liked without knowing why.
