On Thursday, December 14th, we connected with Volos where ERT’s correspondent, Eleni Manoli, shares the news about the local festive events and the tourist arrivals in the Pelion region. Then, after reading the front pages of the newspapers, we contacted with Sifnos island and discussed with the mayor of the island, Maria Nadali, as part of the tribute to the 22 mayors who got elected through local elections. Among other things, she informed us about her priorities regarding Health, Water Supply and covering the housing needs of public officials serving on the island.
In the second part of the show, we had a very interesting conversation with Mr. Giannis Mavroidakos, founder of DESMOS bookstore and the DESMOS magazine in Paris. This year, DESMOS celebrated forty years of uninterrupted operation in Montparnasse, in the heart of historic Paris. For all these year, Desmos has been not only a gathering place for books related to Greece, but also a meeting point for important intellectual people to converse, express freely themselves and to create many acquaintances and friendships. Today, 22 years after its publication, the bilingual magazine that followed counts 52 issues entirely dedicated to Greece and its culture. The occasion for the interview was the event that takes place on Friday evening, December 15th, at the STUDIO cinema in Athens.
Immediately afterwards, we welcome through a phone call Rosa Prodromou, actress and performer, who presents her work “medea loading”, a show for which she had the original idea and she co-created with Maria-Olga Athinaiou and Odysseas Ioannou-Constantinou. The shows start on Wednesday evening, December 13rd for a limited number of performances at the multiplex of Art and Culture PLYFA in Keramikos. Rosa Prodromou is of Greek-British descent. She studied Physical Theatre in Huddersfield, UK, where she completed her Master’s degree in Intercultural Performing Arts (Zarrilli, Exeter, 2002). She has been teaching physical theatre for the last 9 years. She founded the theatrical company Pulsar with Giorgos Vourdamis. Key elements of her research are improvisation and the use of multiple expressive techniques. The performance “Medea loading” is her first solo performance since becoming a mother of 2 children.
