In this special post-Easter edition of the program, we focused on the major news dominating headlines: the death of Pope Francis and the unfolding process of his succession. Joining us were Maria Tamouridou, a Greek tour guide based in Rome, and Dimitris Moschos, Professor of Church History at the Department of Theology, University of Athens.

After a look at the morning’s front pages, we spoke with Manos Oikonomidis, journalist at ysterografa.gr, about the political developments that lie ahead in the post-holiday period.

In the second hour, we turned our attention to Australia, connecting with Themis Kallos, director of the Greek Service at SBS Radio. We heard how the Greek communities in Melbourne and Sydney celebrated Easter, and how Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, as a guest of Archbishop Makarios, marked the occasion. We also discussed a controversy sparked by Australia’s UNESCO representative, who chose not to support the proposal to establish February 9 as World Greek Language Day.

Later, Athanasia Koutsoukou, child psychologist and systemic family therapist, offered valuable advice on how children and teenagers can make constructive use of their free time—and how parents can help them avoid screen addiction and the traps of digital overexposure.

Before the sports segment, we connected live to Volos, where actress Eftychia Fanarioti spoke about her role in the stage adaptation of Thomas Sideris’ The Last Matchstick, produced by the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Volos (DIPETHE). Fanarioti portrays Lela, the central figure from the novel The Dancing Petticoat—a refugee from Smyrna whose life unfolds through the turbulent post-Civil War years.
