Filippos Georgopoulos, a gastroenterologist who has been living and working in Dubai for the past 13 years, spoke on the radio show Our Global Voice on Voice of Greece, with host Dimitris Kontogiannis.
He discussed life in the UAE — from the climate and everyday living to the growing presence of major international events, such as this year’s EuroLeague Final Four held in Abu Dhabi, the country’s capital.
Georgopoulos reflected on the decision to leave Greece during the financial crisis, the healthcare system in the UAE, which is almost entirely private, and the remarkable population growth in Dubai since his arrival. He also emphasized the Emirate’s investment in sports and culture, with events like Formula 1 races, tennis championships, and basketball tournaments drawing global attention.
