Nikos Abavis, who moved to Catalonia 31 years ago and has been working there ever since, spoke about his personal story, the Greek community that grew with new members following Greece’s economic crisis, the Greek school, the historical presence of Catalans in Greece, and more, in an interview on Voice of Greece radio and the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Abavis also referred to the tensions between Catalans and residents of other regions of Spain, the rivalry between the area’s two major football clubs — FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol — as well as the current economic situation in the region.
