On Friday’s broadcast, 27 February 2026, following the introduction and a review of the day’s current affairs, we discussed the decision of the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court regarding the wiretapping case, which has already caused turbulence on the political scene and leaves open the possibility that the judicial investigation may be extended to additional individuals and to further offences. The relevant briefing was provided by Ms Artemisia Papadaki, counsel for the support of the prosecution on behalf of former minister Christos Spirtzis.
Immediately after the newspaper front pages, we discussed developments on the Ukrainian front, marking four years since the outbreak of the war, with Eleni Tserezole, journalist and columnist for the newspaper “I Avgi”. We referred to the losses on both sides, President Putin’s initial objectives, and the deadlock into which negotiations have fallen.
At the beginning of the second hour, Ivana Tzortzevits brought us up to date with international news and developments from the Balkans. This was followed by a discussion with Panagiota Kalapotharakou, President of EKPOIZO (Consumers’ Association), about the high cost of living that continues to burden Greek households.
On the occasion of the third anniversary of the tragic Tempi train disaster—widely described as a crime—we asked lawyer Giannis Matzouranis, legal counsel for Pavlos Aslanidis in the case, to explain how the proceedings are evolving and what is expected next. We focused in particular on the issue of exhumations and on the families’ demand that all necessary tests be carried out in laboratories abroad, in order to investigate the exact causes of death of those who were burned.
The program concluded with an interview with Mr Kostas Katsoularis, President of the Society of Authors, about the Society’s two-day International Conference (27–28 February), to be held at the Goethe-Institut, titled “Writing, Translating, Thinking in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, with the subtitle “What Does It Mean to Be a Writer Today?” Developments in technology and Artificial Intelligence are matters that concern and trouble all those who work professionally with text and the written and spoken word.
