In the Thursday, 30 October 2025 edition of the program, we began — as always — with an overview of current affairs, taking a look at the day’s leading headlines from both online outlets and the press. The focus then turned to market developments and the rising cost of living, with guests Mr. Sokratis Aleiftiras, member of the Board and Press Representative of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa, and Mr. Giorgos Lechouritis, President of INKA (Consumers’ Institute of Greece). The discussion centered on how prices are formed “from field to shelf” and what measures could effectively contribute to price de-escalation. Mr. Lechouritis also commented extensively on the Ministry’s new draft bill to tackle inflation and responded to statements made by Mr. Theodorikakos concerning the role and effectiveness of consumer organizations.
In the second hour, the studio of Voice of Greece welcomed Kostas Machairas, ERT filmmaker and former Head of ERT’s Department for Greeks Abroad, just a few days after his return from Australia, where his award-winning documentary The Enigma of Keros was screened at The Greek Film Festival in Sydney. He spoke about his experiences there, his encounters with members of the Greek community, and his impressions of everyday life in Australia.
Finally, Spyros Ornerakis joined the program by phone to discuss the completion of a long-awaited comic book on the life of Eleftherios Venizelos, commissioned by the Venizelos Foundation in Chania. The work will be presented in the coming months to mark 90 years since Venizelos’s passing.
