Vasilis Koufiotis, president of the Greek Community in Morocco, based in Casablanca, shared his personal story and spoke broadly about the presence of Greeks in the country from the previous century to the present day, during an interview on Voice of Greece and the program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Koufiotis, an entrepreneur, highlighted that there are around 200 Greeks living in this North African country. He emphasized the harmonious coexistence of Greeks with Moroccans and other ethnic communities, regardless of religion, language, or origin, and noted that daily life in Morocco closely resembles that of European countries. Having resided there for 30 years, he also discussed Morocco’s rapidly growing tourism sector as well as its burgeoning film industry, mentioning that many internationally renowned movies have been filmed in the country.
