This episode of “Wander Words” took us to the villages around Plastiras Lake, on the slopes of Agrafa – where in 1960 the construction of the artificial dam reshaped the region’s character and economy. It created a true paradise for visitors from abroad, while at the same time triggering large waves of migration.
Our guides on this journey were:
- Mr. Panagiotis Nanos, Mayor of Plastiras Lake, who spoke about the history of the area and its development to the present day.
- Mr. Romanos Samouris, mountain outdoor activities coordinator.
- Ms. Eleni Papadopoulou, entrepreneur and member of the diaspora from Germany, who returned and settled in the region two years ago.
- Ms. Vagia Skoufi, farmer and former Vice President of the Women’s Cooperative, who introduced us to the local products and cuisine.
Hear their stories and how they carried the listeners of ERT’s global radio service on this journey, in the program presented by Prokopis Agelopoulos.
