On Sunday, February 19th, the episode of the show “Our Town”, broadcasted by the ”Voice of Greece”, was dedicated to the Greek musician and composer Dimitris Lagios.
The multi-talented creator, although he passed away prematurely at the age of 39, has left us with important musical and educational work.
He set to music beloved Greek poets, writing songs with hiw own, unique style and refined aesthetics.
On the show, a reference was made to his hometown, the island of Zakynthos, and his love for its people, as well as to his beloved Cyprus and his creative relationship with it.
A tireless fighter, he recorded important oral accounts of the people of Zakynthos and Arcadia.
His contribution to the creation of music schools, especially in the regions, his love for young people and the opportunities he gave them, as well as their promotion, are noteworthy.
As a guest in the studio, Peggy Lagiou spoke about the daily life of her husband, Dimitris, and his special affection for his daughter, Yakinthi.
She mentioned his strong friendship with the living poets, his acquaintance with Elytis on his island and his love for the theater.
