“Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 13 Dec. 2024

On Friday, December 13, 2024, after reviewing the newspaper headlines, we discussed the national budget, which is expected to be voted on Sunday evening, as well as developments within SYRIZA, with Ioanna Liouta, an economic analyst and 2023 election candidate for the party that lost its position as the main opposition.

Next, Thanasis Choupis briefed us on discussions at the Conference on the Post-Junta Era and Foreign Policy, hosted at the King George Hotel by the Delphi Economic Forum.

During the second hour, we spoke with Panagiotis Manouris, Mayor of Nea Ionia, about the approval of funding from the regional government for the construction of a major underground parking facility in the city center, a project that had been stalled. We also touched on the city’s Christmas festivities, which kick off Saturday night with the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Later, our guest in the studio was documentary filmmaker Meletis Moiras, discussing the upcoming release of his film Cult: My Cult Films. This documentary, which has been showcased at festivals including the Chania Film Festival, is dedicated to cult movies, featuring four iconic films from the 1990s and 2000s: Pantelis Voulgaris’ Vietnam (from It’s a Long Road), Stavros Tsiolis’ Let the Women Wait, Yannis Economides’ Matchbox, and Makis Papadimitratou’s Tsiou. The film includes interviews with the creators and commentary from figures associated with Greek cinema.

We also talked about his previous documentaries, one on the history of Jazz FM and another dedicated to the legendary magazine Babel and Greek comics.
