We spoke with Mr. Theodoros Giannaros, fire meteorologist, about the extreme conditions that lead to wildfires and carry the risk of desertification — particularly in areas with intense human activity and economic interests.
In the second hour, our guest in the studio was Matthaios Santamouris, Professor of Physics and High Performance Architecture at the University of New South Wales in Australia. We discussed how large cities contribute to the rise in average temperature, the poor choices and lack of central planning when it comes to mitigation, the new materials being used, and the pessimism caused by the fact that economic and social inequalities hinder the implementation of scientific proposals.
We concluded, just before the sports news, with Mr. Fotis Mangos, Mayor of Leipsoi, who spoke to us about how the tourist season is unfolding on this beautiful remote island of the Dodecanese.
