On the Wednesday, August 5, 2026 edition, following the introduction and a review of headlines from online media and newspapers, we discussed the devastation caused by the major wildfire that swept through Western Attica, focusing in particular on efforts to rescue animals amid the inferno in Porto Germeno. Our guest was Andreas Leotsakos, Secretary General of PESYDAP (Environmental Association of the Municipalities of Athens and Piraeus).
Following the international news with Ivana Djordjevic, Giorgos Stratouris, a Greek clothing entrepreneur who lives and works in Lima, Peru, joined us in the studio. He spoke about his life story, his decision to emigrate to distant Peru, leaving the tire repair shop he ran with his brother in Megara, the difficult early years of loneliness and hard work in Lima, and his dream of becoming a fashion designer.
We also talked about the Peru he has come to know as an immigrant in recent years, his relationship with the local people, everyday life in the city, the country’s beauty and its economic development, which he likens to Greece in the 1980s.
