On Thursday, 17 September 2026, following an introduction to the latest news and a review of the newspaper front pages, we connected with Prespes and spoke with Sofia Zouzeli, communications officer for the Municipality of Prespes. She presented the autumn events taking place in this border region, focusing on nature and local production.
We then turned to education at the start of the new school year. Nikos Vourdoumpas, president of the Greek Primary Teachers’ Federation (DOE), and Andreas Kargopoulos, president of the Federation of Secondary School Teachers (OLME), discussed teacher shortages and the other problems that emerged during the first few days of the school year.
During the second hour, Ivana Djordjevic brought us the latest news from around the world and the Balkans. Christos Koromilas, communications officer for “Team Taiganidis: Beyond Limits,” then updated us on the attempt by Greek Paralympic swimming gold medalist Charalambos Taiganidis to break the open-water swimming world record by covering 151 kilometers nonstop from Paphos to Larnaca. He had begun the attempt the previous evening.
Shortly before the end of the program, we spoke with Grigoris Gourdomichalis, president of PESYDAP, about the association’s initiative to invite schools across Attica to visit the Intermunicipal Center for the Care of Stray Animals (DIKEPAZ) in Schisto.
The program concluded with sports news presented by Tasos Antoninis.
