Musician Melina Paxinos from Germany on “Take Your Time” | 2 Oct. 2026

Composer and saxophonist Melina Paxinos, from Germany, joined Prokopis Agelopoulos in the studio for “Take Your Time.” Born in Hamburg and working between Athens, Hamburg, and Berlin, the acclaimed musician brings a distinctive blend of Greek jazz and film music to her work.

She is currently preparing her new album, MUSES, inspired by interwar surrealism. For the project, she secured official permission from the families of iconic artists André Breton, Tamara de Lempicka, and Nikos Engonopoulos, as well as from Sony Music Publishing for an arrangement of a Leonard Cohen song. The album will be released digitally on 9 October 2026, presented live at the Half Note Jazz Club in Athens on 29 October 2026, and released on vinyl on 30 October 2026.

Melina Paxinos began studying piano, composition, and saxophone at an early age and graduated from SRH Hochschule in Berlin in 2018. That same year, she began leading the Melina Paxinos Quartet, blending contemporary jazz with her Greek roots and performing at major venues and festivals, including the Athens Concert Hall, the Athens Epidaurus Festival, and Konzerthaus Berlin. Her discography includes four solo albums, while composing film and orchestral music forms a significant part of her work. She has received international recognition and collaborated with Camerata Europaea and violinist Daniel Hope. She has also composed music for fairy tales presented under the auspices of UNESCO and for live events for major brands.
