On Friday, 30 October 2026, after reviewing current affairs and the news through the headlines, we spoke with honorary ambassador Andreas Papastavrou about the elections in Israel and what the outcome signals for the country’s future policy in the region.
At the start of the second hour, we connected with Düsseldorf, Germany, to meet Aristofanis Osmanlis, president of the local Greek Community and its AHEPA chapter. He shared his life story, beginning with his decision to move to Germany in 1978 as a young student. He recalled his early years there, meeting his wife, a Greek doctor in Düsseldorf, and his working life. We also discussed relations between the Greek community and Germans, and the need for a strong Greek lobby to advocate before the German government on issues affecting Greek immigrants.
In the final part of the program, we welcomed Julia Speropoulos to the studio. A fourth-generation Greek American born in Florida, the versatile artist’s deep love for Greece inspired her to become fluent in Greek. After completing her premedical studies, she turned to theater and acting, following an artistic path that eventually led her to filmmaking and hand-drawn animation. Her animated short “Agapi,” which brings to the screen a harrowing true story from the persecution of the Pontic Greeks, has won awards at animation festivals around the world.
During the interview, Speropoulos revealed her latest film project: a documentary about the life of celebrated Greek dancer Fotis Metaxopoulos. The film will combine hand-drawn animation with an extensive selection of photographs from his personal archive.
The program concluded with sports news presented by Michalis Ladopoulos.
