On Friday, 6 November 2026, we devoted much of the program to exclusive Voice of Greece interviews with filmmakers at the 14th Chania Film Festival.
We spoke with Nikos Kavoukidis, an iconic cinematographer in Greek cinema who has also made important documentaries chronicling events in the country’s recent political history. At the festival, he presented his latest film, “Mikis, the Lambrakis Youth and Peace.”
Another much-discussed film that made a strong impression at the festival was “2258 – A Story about Earth’s Regeneration,” directed by Nikos Pantermarakis, with research and a screenplay by Sissy Papadogianni. The film received the special award from the Historical and Folklore Society of Crete. Both filmmakers joined “Take Your Time” to discuss their work.
Finally, “Bugboy” by Loukas Palaiokrassas delighted audiences and critics in the festival’s Greek documentary section, winning three awards: Best Greek Feature-Length Documentary, the Audience Award, and ERT’s Special Cash Award for a Greek Documentary. Palaiokrassas spoke to Voice of Greece about how the film came together and the relationship he developed with the family of its central character, Giorgos. A shy teenager with strabismus who struggles to connect with others after his parents’ divorce, Giorgos retreats into the world of insects and forms a bond with a cricket named Isabella.
Alongside our Chania Film Festival coverage, we reviewed the headlines from news websites and newspapers. Ivana Djordjevic also brought us the latest developments in Serbia following the Student List’s landslide election victory.
