Antonis Klapsis, Associate Professor of Modern History and International Politics at the University of the Peloponnese, discussed the period from the summer of 1974 to the first elections of the Metapolitefsi and the December 1974 referendum on the political system. The discussion took place on the radio program “Our Global Voice” with Petros Diplas and Dimitris Kontogiannis, broadcast by Voice of Greece.
In the second episode dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Metapolitefsi, Professor Klapsis delved into lesser-known events of the time. Among these was Mikis Theodorakis’ visit to Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis at the Grande Bretagne Hotel in Athens, along with other pivotal moments that defined the era.
He also analyzed the political forces of the period, such as the newly established New Democracy, the Center Union-New Forces, PASOK, and the United Left, which included the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the Interior KKE, and EDA.
