Art curator Theodoros Koutsogiannis on “Saturday Shift” | 12 Oct. 2024

The art historian and curator of the artworks of the Hellenic Parliament, Theodoros Koutsogiannis, who has curated exhibitions for the Hellenic Parliament, the National Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Gallery of Chania, the Municipal Gallery of Heraklion, among others, speaks on “Saturday Shift” with Antonis Karagiannakis.

Due to the large painting exhibition for Konstantinos Volanakis titled “Isalos Grammí” taking place in his hometown, Heraklion, at this time, Theodoros Koutsogiannis takes us on a tour of the world of the “father of Greek seascapes,” one of the most important Greek painters of the 19th century.

“What K. Volanakis seeks to highlight through his work is the grandeur, vastness, and majesty of the sea, alongside the relationship between man and it. In front of the sea, man is a speck, compared to and measured against it, and this is reflected in the work of the great Greek painter,” says the art historian.

A special radio journey on “Voice of Greece” and “Fair Winds and Following Seas” that no one should miss.
