Ellinikes Fones: A Greek choir in Brisbane | 11.01.2024

Faraway Words’‘ hosted the conductor Christina Xydi-Lignou, and the musicologist and music producer Georgios Lignos and talked to us about the choir “Ellinikes Fones” based in Brisbane, Australia, which recently released the album “Shall we sing?” with carols from all over Greece.


Conductor Christina Xydi-Lignou and musicologist and music producer Georgios Lignos spoke to Natasa Vissarionos about the Greek choir they founded in Brisbane, Australia in 2022, together with music therapist/soloist Katerini Manolatou, and under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Community of St. George, Brisbane. The aim of the choir is to promote and preserve Greek language, as they mentioned.

“Greek Voices” recently released the album “Shall we sing?” with carols from all over Greece. They aim being to integrate the Greek spirit through traditional carols, with a cover that unites ancient Greece, Byzantium, Hellenism and Christmas.
