“Faraway Words” in Qatar and Nagorno-Karabakh

The mental journey prepared by “Faraway words” on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, is heading to Qatar, which has attracted the attention of the whole world with the organization of the World Cup. Serafeim Kotrotsos, the president of the Greek Community “Desmos”, talks not only about the World Cup but also about the Greek community and the professional attraction of the Middle East, which currently houses about 2,500 Greeks. How did he find himself there? What got the Greeks to Doha? How exactly is Greek tradition and culture preserved in Qatar and how are Greek people’s countrymen treated there? These are some of the questions of Natasa Vissarionos and Giannis-Stelios Tzirvelakis, which Mr. Kotrotsos answers.
The next stop on the trip is the borderline between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as recorded in the documentary by Thomas Sideris, “The Pomegranates of Nagorno Karabakh”, an award-winning film that deals with the reality of the war between the two countries and the aftermath of the peace treaty signed in 2020. Mr Sideris, of course, sums up our thoughts with the phrase “A pomegranate is a pomegranate, just like people”.
