Philologist and author Nikos Graikos visited the studio of Voice of Greece to discuss his latest works, inspired by his book Questions – A Life Full of Question Marks and Exclamations, published by Syrtari Editions. His conversation revolved around the themes of wonder and curiosity that shape human experience, with “exclamations” representing awe from birth and “question marks” embodying the uncertainties as one ages and contemplates mortality.
Living in Paris for 40 years, Graikos reflected on his life in the Greek community there, sharing that he “discovered Greece in Paris.” He talked about his experiences teaching Greek to French adults, the fulfillment he finds in this work, and his longstanding involvement with Voice-Writing over 25 years. He emphasized the depth of his connection to the Greek language, seeing it as a bridge to identity, roots, and dual heritage between Greece and France. Graikos poignantly noted, “Two homelands—sometimes double joy, more often double sorrow,” affirming that “ultimately, it’s more important to love than to be loved.”
