“Faraway Words” with the Greek Community of Venice | 31 July 2024

In the studio of “Voice of Greece,” we welcomed Dimitris Zafeiropoulos, president of the Hellenic Orthodox Community of Venice. He shared his personal journey of immigration and his decade-long involvement with the Greek community. Mr. Zafeiropoulos revealed fascinating stories about discovering historically significant original documents and took us on a virtual tour of the Church of St. George of the Greeks, remarking, “One can only feel pride when entering this church.”
He shared his extensive knowledge of the Greek community in Venice, acquired through dedicated research and study, emphasizing that the history of the Hellenic Orthodox Community of Venice is intertwined with the history of Hellenism. Lastly, Mr. Zafeiropoulos expressed his intention to return permanently to Greece, where he feels truly at home.
