Greek expatriate Kostas Konstantinou, founder of the Association for Revival, Art, and Culture in South Africa, spoke about his family’s history and, more broadly, the history of Greek immigrants in the country. He discussed the current situation in South Africa, how it has evolved since the fall of Apartheid, and how these changes have affected the Greek diaspora. His insights were shared on the Voice of Greece radio program “Our Global Voice” with Dimitris Kontogiannis.
Mr. Konstantinou also addressed the reasons why some members of the Greek community are leaving South Africa. Additionally, he paid tribute to the late George Bizos, the renowned lawyer of Nelson Mandela. In his honor, a documentary on Bizos’ life will be screened at an event on Thursday, March 20, at the Benaki Museum (138 Pireos Street). The event is held under the auspices of the South African Embassy.
