Our Town 07/09/2022

On Saturday, July 9, actresses Evdokia Statiri and Filia Dendrinou, both with long careers in the art of storytelling, read texts about utopian cities on the show “Our Town” of ” The Voice of Greece”. There will be excerpts from:

– “Under Milk Wood” by Dylan Thomas (translation by Katerina Anghelaki-Rooke). A voice work intended for radio.

A day in the life of a fictional town’s strange inhabitants reminds us of play, humanity, and the world’s beauty.

-“Invisible Cities” by Italo Calvino.

A love poem to cities, at a time when living in them, is becoming increasingly difficult.

– “The House” by Filia Dendrinou

A call to memory. Stories of a dilapidated house in the city.

Selected music is played in tandem with the texts.

On the second part of the show and the occasion of the publication of his micro-essays “The Stork’s Stand” (Stereoma Publications) poet, translator, child psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst Thanasis Chatzopoulos, expands on his opinions and discusses with Themis Rodamitis about: “poetry and prose in their own time”, “the child-poet”, “the analogical thought”, “the poet as an ignoramus”, “the imprint of the body and the land”, “the dream portrait of K. Anghelaki-Rooke”, “Pessoa-Dickinson: When the writer is left in the shadow and the work hangs in the balance”, “language and its limits”, etc.
