Take Your Time with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 10 Oct. 2024

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the episode was musically dedicated to Mimis Plessas. We listened to an artistic meeting-documentary from 2014, featuring Mimis Plessas on piano and Georgia Kefala performing the song “Mou mou pis tipota.”

The show began with Antigoni Drakatou delivering the news of the death of George Baldock, followed by a phone connection with Tarpon Springs, Florida, where former mayor Chris Alahouzos spoke to us about the aftermath of Hurricane Milton and how residents, including tens of thousands of Greeks, coped with the situation.

After 10:30, Nikolas Farandouris, candidate for president of SYRIZA, discussed developments within the party ahead of the critical meeting of the Central Committee, emphasizing that any attempts at dialogue between candidates must be made under the basic premise of avoiding legal threats. The first hour concluded with international news from Ivana Djortzevic.

The second hour began with an interview with Panagiotis Giannopoulos, a meteorologist from ERT, who explained data related to extreme weather events, such as the one that affected Florida.

We then addressed the serious issue of violence among minors, giving the floor to one of the leading experts, Mr. Pantelis Proios, a violence prevention psychologist and former president and coordinator of the ACT program. Mr. Proios clearly stated that police measures do not resolve the problem and often lead to contrary results, advocating for educational programs like ACT that help parents and children understand the root of the issue and change perceptions about the impact of violent imagery that floods children’s and teenagers’ minds today. He also agreed that sports can serve as an antidote to violence.

Before concluding the show, we heard from Professor Antonis Karaiskos, who teaches Urban and Consumer Law at Ryukoku University in Japan, via phone.

The program ended with updates from the sports sector, presented by Antigoni Drakatou.
