“Take Your Time” with Prokopis Agelopoulos | 13 Feb. 2025

On the Thursday, February 13, 2025, episode, we discussed current affairs with journalist and lawyer Antonis Papagiannidis, focusing primarily on Donald Trump’s moves to end the war in Ukraine and the unease they are causing in Europe and its leaders.

Right after, we dedicated a segment to radio theatre in celebration of World Radio Day, observed annually on February 13. We listened to excerpts from three historic theatrical recordings produced in the studios of Public Radio:

  • The Lady of the House by Tsiforos and Vassileiadis, directed by Thanasis Papageorgiou, featuring Lida Protopsalti and Giorgos Geogleris (1995).
  • Romance by Edward Sheldon, performed by Dimitris Horn and Vasso Manolidou in a 1955 radio adaptation directed by Mitsos Lygizos.
  • Peg O’ My Heart by John Hartley Manners, with Elli Lambeti, Mary Lalopoulou, Giorgos Michalakopoulos, and Giorgos Metsolis, in a production directed by Giorgos Giannisis.

Thanasis Papageorgiou, the driving force behind the historic STOA Theatre, spoke to Prokopis Angelopoulos about his experiences with radio theatre. He expressed his support for a properly structured revival of the genre, with plays specifically suited for radio and rehearsals dedicated to enhancing actors’ performances.

In the second part of the show, we connected with Tasmania, Australia, to meet Dr. James Markos (Dimitris Markos), a distinguished physician and researcher. Born in Neapoli, Laconia, Greece, he emigrated in 1957 at the age of three, living in Australia and Canada before excelling in his field. Recently, at the age of 70, he was honored by the Australian government on January 26—Australia Day—for his lifetime contributions to medicine and research on respiratory health and sleep.

In the final segment, our studio guest was Ms. Katerina Golgaki, Social Media Manager and Digital Marketing Expert, who discussed the importance of social media today and how to best utilize it, particularly for professional promotion.
