In the second hour, we traveled to Chania, Crete, where the artistic director of the Chania Film Festival, Matthaios Frantzesakis, informed us about this year’s event, which is being held for the 12th time. The festival not only includes film screenings but also honorary events, workshops for children, screenings for schools, special tributes, and many other activities of interest to cinema lovers in the city and beyond.
Right after, we headed to Berlin, where we spoke with Sofia Stavrianidou, the director of the Berlin Greek Film Festival. The 10th edition of the festival is set to take place in March 2025, and as of earlier this week, the platform for participation applications has opened via filmfreeway.com.
Lastly, Dr. Christos Christidis, historian, talked about the highly important exhibition of the Hellenic Parliament and the Cypriot Parliament on the subject of the Turkish Invasion of 1974 and the open wound it left, which remains to this day. Dr. Christidis is one of the curators of the exhibition, currently on display at the Public Tobacco Factory.
