On Thursday, May 30th 2024, we met two more candidates for the European elections of June 9th. Kleon Grigoriadis, actor, elected MP with Yanis Varoufakis’ party, MeRA25, spoke about the changes that need to be made in society in order to change the course of things and provide solutions to the deadlocks, especially when it comes to the huge social inequalities, but also about the role that a left-wing MEP should have at the European Parliament. We also met the SYRIZA P.S. candidate who comes from the Australian Greek Diaspora, Mrs Katerina Priftaki, a lawyer, who was forced to leave Greece and to settle in Melbourne during the MoUs years. Mrs Priftaki focused on issues related to the Greek Diaspora and the need for the Greek expatriates to be represented by the Greek state and its representatives in the European Parliament in the best possible way.
The beginning and the end of the show was dedicated to Olympiacos winning the Conference League in a magical night for Greek football. ERA Sport journalist, Christos Kontos, was in the studio to comment about this. At the closing, we had a telephone conversation the vice president of Melbourne’s PEFO (OLYMPIAKOS PIRAEUS PANHELLENIC SUPPORTERS), Kostas Athanasiou, who described how our expatriates watched and celebrated the cup win; we also listened to sports news with Antigone Drakatou. Shortly before 11am, we made a stop in Cyclades, to learn about the journalistic project called “Sustainable Cyclades”, on the occasion of an event held at the Museum of Cycladic Art on the very serious issue of the challenges faced by the islands of the South Aegean: from uncontrolled development, tourism without any rules or infrastructure, at a time when the inhabitants of the islands feel more and more like foreigners in their own homeland. Journalist Yannis Palaiologos, who together with Tasos Telloglou is the curator of this project, spoke about the issue.
