“Our Town” presents a special episode titled The Art of Remembering. Inspired by the eponymous film by Anneta Papathanasiou, the episode follows a visual and emotional journey into memory, trauma, healing, and reconciliation.
Joining the conversation is visual artist Artemis Alcalay, who appears in the film. She speaks about her work, share her family’s story, and explore how, consciously or unconsciously, she has come to terms with unspoken histories, inherited trauma, and the memory of the Holocaust.
Through puppets, canvases, crumpled fabrics, weavings, red ribbons, photographs, and video, Alcalay constructs a fragile yet resonant space—a place of encounter, remembrance, love, and repair. Together, the two friends and collaborators reflect on the emotional weight of choosing which stories to tell—nearly as challenging as listening to them.
