Today’s episode of “Our Town” is about the relationship between poetry and painting.
In our studio is Nikos Oikonomidis, who through his easel approaches contemporary poets in order to create, as university professor Tzina Kalogirou says during the broadcasting program, a highly successful and enjoyable “pairing of the arts” (phrased by G. Seferis).
The artist talks about the techniques, the particular colors he uses in each poet and the philosophical approach he gives by conversing with them in the spaces of their creation.
He makes references to Van Gogh and Victor Hugo, talking about their visual and poetic expression.
Philologist and writer Lida Panagiotopoulou also speaks on the broadcasting program, praising Oikonomidis’ work and mentioning, among other things, that painting creates a special universe that often includes poetry.
