On September 27, 2024, journalist Thomas Sideris was a guest on the show “Take Your Time” hosted by Prokopis Agelopoulos, discussing his nomination for the Best European Journalist award for 2024. Sideris, the only Greek nominee, was recognized in the shortlist for the EU’s PRIX EUROPA AWARDS due to his investigative work on the documentary “The Return of Ivan,” co-produced by the Hellenic Film Center.
The PRIX EUROPA committee praised Sideris for his comprehensive body of journalistic research, which includes his “war trilogy” films—”The Return of Ivan,” “The Pomegranates of Nagorno-Karabakh,” and “The Wedding in Afrin.” His humanitarian approach and focus on untold stories of people affected by war were highlighted as significant contributions to his work.
Additionally, his latest film, “The Return of Ivan,” has been accepted as a completed project in the 25th edition of the DOC MARKET at MEDIMED and will be presented to major European television networks and film organizations from Europe, Asia, and Africa in Barcelona from October 17 to 20.
Sideris holds a PhD in human geography and has created seven feature films, with his recent work “Like Seagulls Over the Keratios” currently airing on Cosmote. He is also known for producing radio series for Voice of Greece and ERA Sport, specializing in radio documentaries.
