Nikos Frangos, President of the Hellenic Institute of Culture in Italy, and Lia Drosou, Deputy Mayor of Oraiokastro for Contemporary Culture, Outreach, Tourism Development, and Companion Animal Protection, spoke about the newly established sister city agreement between the Italian village of Bodio Lomnago in the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Oraiokastro in Thessaloniki. The discussion took place on the Voice of Greece radio program “Our Global Voice,” hosted by Dimitris Kontogiannis, following the recent visit of an Italian delegation led by the Mayor of Bodio Lomnago to Thessaloniki.
The partnership is the result of a joint participation by the Municipality of Oraiokastro, the Oraiokastro Women’s Association “Aristi,” and the Hellenic Institute of Culture in Italy in a European program promoting “Together for Active, Cultivated, and Inclusive Societies.” As part of the program’s implementation, a series of events were held in Oraiokastro from May 24 to 25. During her visit, the Mayor of Bodio Lomnago also laid flowers at the monument dedicated to the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks.
